Walk the Block Art Festival celebrates the beauty and power of Black art in all of its forms.

Event: Walk the Block

Overview: WALK THE BLOCK ART FESTIVAL, on Saturday, September 27, is a one-day art walk that transforms Central District homes, businesses, parks, porches, and other common spaces into art installations and performance sites. Participants enjoy visual art, video installations, live music, dance parties, community stories, and more as they stroll the neighborhood with family and friends. 

GRATITUDE is the theme for Walk the Block 2025.

Location:
Wa Na Wari is a center for Black art and community building located in a historic, Black owned Central District home. Every year they bless Seattle with their Walk the Block Black art and creative community building festival.

Appropriate For:
All ages. All are welcome. If you do not identify as Black, African-American, or of the African diaspora, we ask that you review our community agreement before visiting.

Reminder. Safety means different things to different people. For some, the pandemic is over; for others, especially those with chronic illness, disability, and/or compromised immune systems, the risk of developing serious illness and/or Long COVID is significant. Wa Na Wari is a space of belonging, which means we do our best to make sure everyone belongs, including the most vulnerable among us. We strongly encourage that masks be worn while indoors at Wa Na Wari, except when eating or drinking. For some events, masks will be required. We have masks at the door if you need one. Thank you for your understanding and solidarity.
