<image:caption>The Museum of Flight’s exhibition, Runway to Runway, is a delightful and insightful trip through the styles and stories that fashion flight attendant uniforms. Runway to Runway features 100 artifacts ranging from classic suits and skirts to capes and go-go boots and onward to today’s thoughtful neoclassic styles. Each uniform reflects the person who wore it, the purpose behind its design and the responsibilities carried out while it was worn. The interactives in the exhibit allow visitors to enhance their fashion sense with touchable fabrics, hands-on activities, like the proper way to tie a scarf, and fun puzzles to answer “What's in a Bag?” The exhibit is fully presented in English and Spanish, with partial presentation in Somali, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Chinese. Sept. 19-20 is Flight Attendant Appreciation Weekend, with special programs and half-price admission for all flight attendants! Exhibition is open until Jan. 18, 2027. 10am to 5 pm Open to the public. $16-$29 This is the Museum's biggest new exhibit for 2026, and features the flamboyant fashions of the 1960s. Bring your flight attendant friends!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Founded in mid 2020, Gallery B612 aspires to be a gathering place for artists, dancers, fashion designers and creatives from all walks of life. To this date, the gallery has featured a Solo Exhibition from founder, director and curator, MiYoung Margolis; served as a gathering place and rehearsal space for MMDC and Dare to Dance; and featured over thirty solo shows and juried exhibitions of work by local and international artists. At Gallery B612 we believe it's important to provide space for artists to share their voice in a space where others can view and discuss the pieces as well as mingle with others in our community. In our modern American world, there are less and less public spaces for people to spend their free time. Here, we will hope to provide safety and connection for the Seattle community. With locations in Pioneer Square and SODO, Gallery B612 activates both historic and industrial spaces through exhibitions, performances, and experimental programming. We are committed to supporting artists in developing and presenting work that engages audiences, expands context, and contributes to a dynamic, globally connected cultural landscape.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Be part of the creative journey! Join local author Reagan Jackson and a talented cast of local young people—directed by Intiman Theatre’s Wesley Frugé—for a live staged reading of Sankofa and Second Chances (working title). Supported by a grant from 4Culture, Reagan is gathering the local community to help refine this Seattle-based novel. This is a public reading before final edits are locked in. Your voice, thoughts, and feedback will directly help shape the final book. About the Book: When 17-year-old Brixton Hall flees a violent fallout in Chicago and lands in Seattle’s Central District, he carries nothing but rage and a desire to leave. But the neighborhood his mother once called home—now deeply altered by gentrification—has other plans for him. Enter Cori Williams, a teen who knows every corner of the Central District and the ancient stories of the Orishas. When her best friend Skyla begins having vivid, impossible dreams while their other friend Faruq and his family face foreclosure and displacement, Cori realizes it is time to call on powers older than time itself. Pulled into "the Dreaming"—a spiritual realm where the past bleeds into the present—four local teens witness the layered history of their neighborhood: the legacy of Freedom Schools and the Black Panthers Stories of wartime internment and return. The painful history of redlining maps that forced families into corners. As each teen discovers a unique spiritual gift, they learn a vital lesson: while some powers isolate, others—like story, ritual, art, and collective care—might just save them all. In this stunning debut, the Orishas are fighting to be remembered, a neighborhood is fighting to survive, and four youth discover that home isn’t just a place you return to—it’s something you choose to tend. About the Author: Reagan E. J. Jackson (she/her) is a Seattle-based writer, facilitator, and “book doula”. She is the author of Still True: The Evolution of an Unexpected Journalist (Hinton Publishing 2024), three full- length poetry collections, two children’s books, and over 100 articles. Reagan is continuously plotting ways Black women can recharge, reset, reimagine, and rest, and is currently crafting her debut Young Adult novel. www.wanawari.org</image:caption>

In this way, they position themselves within a lineage of artists who have done the same in the face of violence. Bjork creates space to leave the harsh world of now, for a moment, and enter their world to be held and seen. <image:caption>The night comes to life with Night Out at SAM Gallery, featuring the work of Joseph Steininger and others. Seeing a show, hearing live music, visiting with friends—nightlife keeps us stimulated and connected in the city. From simple to sophisticated, the places we go for a night out become landmarks of our experiences. Joseph Steininger uses intricately detailed, hand-cut stencils applied with spray paint, combined with traditional forms of fine art to create complex works in a contemporary medium. For this show, Steininger's work focuses on a night out, inside and out. See works from Joseph Steininger, Katie Metz, Jose Rodriguez III and other SAM Gallery artists inspired by the night and the places it takes us. https://www.seattleartmuseum.org/whats-on/programs/sam-gallery</image:caption>

<image:caption>Every night for almost two decades, artist Clare Johnson has drawn and written on a post-it to save a small piece of each ending day. In conjunction with the exhibition Day-to-Day: Rhythm, Routine, Resistance, join Johnson at the Henry for a talk and hands-on activity exploring personal histories and practices of everyday making. Set in the galleries amidst the Day-to-Day exhibition, which explores the poetics and politics of everyday life, learn about Johnson's practice and project’s unlikely origins; discover how it responds to society’s erasure of queer histories; and experience hidden stories—from the dramatic to the lighthearted—behind individual post-its. Johnson invites audiences to exercise curiosity about hidden histories we each hold, explore the power of meaningful self-made ritual, and uncover strange magic in everyday life. This program will take place in the Henry's lower level galleries. Assisted Listening Devices (ALDs) and in-gallery seating will be available. <image:caption>(PLEASE BRING A JAR*) Hey everybody, let’s do astrophysics the hedgewitch way, as Katharina Kepler intended. This might be a spell. Girls own the void and you can too! Suitable for reasonable children and most adults. Part artist talk, part workshop, Build Your Own Black Hole takes place inside Spacetime Gothic, Meghan Thréinfhir’s solo exhibition imagining a world of science drenched in animism, where the universe was never stripped of spirit and matter never became entirely mute. Moving between bogs and black holes, radios and daemons, computation and cosmology, Spacetime Gothic asks what kinds of technologies might emerge from a cosmos understood as alive, relational, and perhaps a little haunted. What changes when our instruments are not only tools for measuring and extracting from the world, but ways of listening to it? We’ll talk about the ideas behind the exhibition and build tiny black holes to take home. All materials provided. Just bring a jar. *Small jars are ideal, about baby-food size. A few jars will be available if you can’t find one. not ADA we have stairs Light Rail, Street car, paid street parking Free, Family Friendly, Open to the public gilbertphoto.com</image:caption>

Used daily and chosen deliberately, cups are among the most mundane and most personal objects we use. Loving Cups brings together 15 contemporary glass artists from our region to interpret a deceptively simple form, offering a rare survey of the range and diversity of vision within our glass community. <image:caption>The Hideout opened on March 24, 2005. Owners Greg Lundgren and Jeff Scott had in mind a different kind of bar, and set forth to make their dream a reality. With virtually no past experience in bar operation, they approached it from the eyes of patrons – what kind of bar would they want to hang out in? Well, it had to be dark. And the drinks would have to be top-notch – hand squeezed juice even. It would have to have a little glamour – Seattle needed to grow out of its college years and at least pretend to have some style and culture. Yeah, make it look old. No white plastic or energy drinks. Make it a place where you can talk with your friends. Make it a place where the bartender knows your name and you are not embarrassed to go there by yourself. Make it a place you are proud to take your out of town friends to. www.HideoutSeattle.com</image:caption>

<image:caption>We are pleased to present "Social Contract," curated by Actualize Residents, Tommy Gregory and Rachael Comer. “A social contract is an unwritten agreement where people give up some of their absolute freedom and obey laws in exchange for safety, order, and protection from a government or community." Featuring artists from far sides of the continental US, Social Contract includes a wide range of mediums but centers on a pointed critique of the recent and current condition of our flawed government. Join us for the Opening Reception of "Social Contract" during WALKDONTRUN and the kick off to Seattle Art + Culture Week. Doors open at 4PM followed by a Curator Talk at 5PM. The exhibition will be on view until November 7, 2026. Ride sharing or public transport is encouraged. There is an open parking lot on the corner of 4th Ave. S & S. <image:caption>FILTER; Benefit Auction Preview Exhibition September 14 - October 11, 2026 Artist reception: Saturday, November 19th, 3-5pm (many of the artists will be in attendance!) Every photograph is shaped by a filter—a choice of perspective, light, and intention. At PCNW, our community is the filter through which creativity flourishes, new voices emerge, and meaningful connections are made. Presenting a preview of this year’s auction artwork, the exhibition sparks conversation across generations, styles, and genres. From intimate portraiture, quiet landscapes, and documentary photography to high-energy rock and roll and tactile alternative processes, the collection of images highlights a vibrant spectrum of artists. Every piece tells a story, and every bid on October 16th supports PCNW and the unique photographic ecosystem we all exist in. We are thrilled to announce that exhibiting artist Claire Garoutte will be joining us for an exclusive book signing! She will be signing copies of her new release, Cuba, On a Given Day (2025, Kehrer Verlag Heidelberg), co-produced with Anneke Wambaugh. Don't miss this opportunity to meet Claire and other featured artists from the exhibition, discuss their work, and pick up a signed copy. We'll begin by creating abstract underwater landscapes on a heated glass palette using encaustic medium and delicate Japanese calligraphy paper. Once your monoprints are complete, you'll enhance them with water-soluble media, adding details, depth, and unexpected discoveries. In this workshop, you'll learn: Encaustic monoprint techniques How to successfully combine wax and water-based media Ways to build layers, texture, and visual interest How to train your eye to recognize shapes and imagery through pareidolia—the tendency to see familiar forms in abstract patterns No two pieces will be alike. As your underwater worlds emerge, you'll discover fish, coral, sea creatures, and imaginative forms hidden within the layers. You'll leave with a collection of vibrant mixed media artworks, fresh creative inspiration, and new techniques to incorporate into your own artistic practice. Whether you're new to encaustic monoprinting or looking to expand your mixed media skills, come ready to experiment, play, and be surprised by what surfaces. About the Instructor: Sharon Gottula is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the fragile intersections between memory, nature, and time. A graduate of San Francisco State University with a BA in Fine Art and an emphasis in photography, Gottula spent decades as a successful commercial, editorial, and portrait photographer in Los Angeles before relocating to the Pacific Northwest to pursue her fine art practice. Her artistic journey took a transformative turn in 2010 after a single encounter with an encaustic painting. The medium—ancient, tactile, and infused with beeswax—offered a powerful new language. As a Leo with a fire-sign-heavy chart, painting with a blowtorch felt less like a technique and more like destiny. $75 workshop fee 18+ only please https://www.galleryb612.com/</image:caption>

<image:caption>Seattle artist Michael Schultheis has been exhibiting with Winston Wächter Fine Art for 20 years. We are proud and excited to share his latest body of work, Coherence in Chaos. At the heart of the exhibition is the epicycloid—a curve created as one circle rolls around another. As its geometry changes, so do its possibilities. A single center suggests an individual discovering inner coherence. Two centers evoke the dynamic balance of a relationship. Multiple centers speak to families, communities, and societies, where countless lives influence one another while remaining connected. The mathematics becomes a portrait of relationship itself: each new center reshapes the whole without breaking its unity. These works ask a simple question: What holds us together?</image:caption>

      <image:title>Events - Union Art Center - Hamlet</image:title>
<image:caption>We are thrilled to begin our fall at Union Arts Center with this classic Shakespeare tragedy. We hope that folks, whether Shakespeare beginners or experts, are just as excited as us to go on a compelling journey about corruption, revenge, and morality. A father is dead. A mother has moved on. And a son can feel the lies closing in around him. The court celebrates, the kingdom carries on, but Hamlet is the only one willing to look beneath the surface. The deeper he digs, the more dangerous the truth becomes, and the harder it gets to tell friend from enemy, sanity from madness, justice from revenge. In Shakespeare’s most legendary tragedy, the truth will come out. The question is who will survive it? Union Arts Center productions are recommended for ages 13 and up.</image:caption>
