Cut the Red Tape (a panel discussion around the corresponding exhibit by Rodney King

Join us to view the exhibit and stay for the panel discussion. The focus is on art and redlining, on gentrification and how artist narrate what society remembers. The panel will feature visual artists Rodney H King, Myron Curry, TR Miles, Vincent Keele, and Jonarra Swanson. We’ll be having an honest conversation about redlining, gentrification, the changing landscape of Seattle, and the important role artists play in documenting and preserving the stories of our communities. Each artist brings a unique perspective to the conversation. My own work is deeply connected to growing up in Seattle’s Central District and using art to preserve the people, businesses, neighborhoods, and memories that helped shape the community. Myron, TR, Vincent, and Jonarra also bring their own experiences and artistic voices around culture, identity, history, and community.
