Please join AMcE Creative Arts for an afternoon with exhibiting artist Ian Brownlee. Ian is currently featured in AMcE’s exhibition, "Self. Reflexive."
Ian’s workshop will include a brief history of narrative drawing, followed by a drawing session that will culminate in a group drawing exercise. The emphasis is on individual work becoming a collective project. Materials are provided, and participants will take home their art, along with photos of the finished piece.

About: Ian Brownlee is a storyteller whose figurative paintings autobiographically explore significant life events, with enough ambiguity and allegory to become universal tales. The paintings utilize multiple styles and genres, including American folk and Buddhist art. He received his MFA from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, in 2025, and his BFA from the Atlanta College of Art, Atlanta, GA, in 1999. He has exhibited his work in shows across the country, including New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Ian also recently returned from an artist residency in Rajasthan, India. Ian lives and works in Seattle, WA.

About Future Arts Way: OTHER EARTH 2026
Future Arts Way is a public augmented reality trail running through four Seattle neighborhoods, Belltown, Central Downtown, the Waterfront, and Pioneer Square, from the Pacific Science Center to King Street Station. Developed by Future Arts, the trail places original AR artworks by local and regional artists directly into the fabric of the city, activating storefronts, sidewalks, and public corners with immersive digital experiences rooted in Indigenous knowledge, community histories, and visions of the future. No gallery required. Just your phone, your feet, and the street.
What happens on the tour?
Your guide leads a small group along the trail, stopping at each AR drop to launch the artwork together and hear the story behind it, the artist, the place, and why it lives here. Some works are sweeping and immersive. Others are intimate and unexpected. All of them respond to where you are standing. Expect conversation, curiosity, and a few moments that stop you in your tracks.
What is special about this Art Fair Tour?
We will walk over to the South Trailhead of Future Arts Way and begin at King Street Station and walk north through Pioneer Square as the neighborhood glows in the early evening.
Led by Future Arts' Executive Director Yuliya Bruk, this guided AR tour moves through Seattle's oldest neighborhood - Pioneer Square, past independent bookshops, artist-run galleries, and community-built spaces, unlocking 10 augmented reality stories woven into the streets and storefronts along the way.

Collect a piece of Seattle art history as we mark the 40th anniversary of the inaugural Pacific Northwest Art Expo, which took place Oct 31 - Nov 2, 1986 at the then-named Seattle Trade Center. This recently resurfaced large-format poster advertising the Expo's opening gala features an image commissioned from Gene Gentry McMahon by Greg Kucera and Expo organizer Rodney Stuart. Orcas Paley is delighted to offer signed lithograph copies of Gene's "Midnight Masque" (1986), printed four decades ago by Seattle master lithographer Kent Lovelace (1957-2017) at Stone Press Editions in Pioneer Square. Vintage offset printed copies of the poster will also be available. Both versions in excellent condition.

Be part of the creative journey! Join local author Reagan Jackson and a talented cast of local young people—directed by Intiman Theatre’s Wesley Frugé—for a live staged reading of Sankofa and Second Chances (working title).
Supported by a grant from 4Culture, Reagan is gathering the local community to help refine this Seattle-based novel. This is a public reading before final edits are locked in. Your voice, thoughts, and feedback will directly help shape the final book.
About the Book: When 17-year-old Brixton Hall flees a violent fallout in Chicago and lands in Seattle’s Central District, he carries nothing but rage and a desire to leave. But the neighborhood his mother once called home—now deeply altered by gentrification—has other plans for him. Enter Cori Williams, a teen who knows every corner of the Central District and the ancient stories of the Orishas.
When her best friend Skyla begins having vivid, impossible dreams while their other friend Faruq and his family face foreclosure and displacement, Cori realizes it is time to call on powers older than time itself. Pulled into "the Dreaming"—a spiritual realm where the past bleeds into the present—four local teens witness the layered history of their neighborhood: the legacy of Freedom Schools and the Black Panthers Stories of wartime internment and return. The painful history of redlining maps that forced families into corners. As each teen discovers a unique spiritual gift, they learn a vital lesson: while some powers isolate, others—like story, ritual, art, and collective care—might just save them all.
In this stunning debut, the Orishas are fighting to be remembered, a neighborhood is fighting to survive, and four youth discover that home isn’t just a place you return to—it’s something you choose to tend.
About the Author: Reagan E. J. Jackson (she/her) is a Seattle-based writer, facilitator, and “book doula”. She is the author of Still True: The Evolution of an Unexpected Journalist (Hinton Publishing 2024), three full- length poetry collections, two children’s books, and over 100 articles. Reagan is continuously plotting ways Black women can recharge, reset, reimagine, and rest, and is currently crafting her debut Young Adult novel.

The group will lead a shape note singing event in which visitors are encouraged to participate. Tracing its origins in churches in New England and the South, shape note singing today continues to serve as a community and social gathering.
All are welcome to attend this free event, and no prior experience is required.

Pratt offers art classes for all ages, all skill levels and all abilities. Students receive professional artist instruction in an environment that allows participants to expand their skills as widely as their aptitudes and imaginations permit. Pratt also offers independent access to its professionally equipped studios, providing shared access to the resources required for artists and hobbyists to pursue their crafts. Pratt is the only facility in the Northwest where absolute beginners and established professional artists work side-by-side creating art in: glass; metal, stone and wood sculpture; jewelry and metalsmithing; painting; drawing; printmaking; and mixed media.

ARTS at King Street Station is a dynamic space for arts and culture in the heart of the city dedicated to increasing opportunities for people of color to generate and present their work. Housed above Seattle’s historic King Street Station, this 7,500-square-foot gallery and cultural space includes a studio for artists-in-residence and offices for the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture.

About Future Arts Way: OTHER EARTH 2026
Future Arts Way is a public augmented reality trail running through four Seattle neighborhoods, Belltown, Central Downtown, the Waterfront, and Pioneer Square, from the Pacific Science Center to King Street Station. Developed by Future Arts, the trail places original AR artworks by local and regional artists directly into the fabric of the city, activating storefronts, sidewalks, and public corners with immersive digital experiences rooted in Indigenous knowledge, community histories, and visions of the future. No gallery required. Just your phone, your feet, and the street.
What happens on the tour ?
Your guide leads a small group along the trail, stopping at each AR drop to launch the artwork together and hear the story behind it, the artist, the place, and why it lives here. Some works are sweeping and immersive. Others are intimate and unexpected. All of them respond to where you are standing. Expect conversation, curiosity, and a few moments that stop you in your tracks. Tour Starts at WeRise Wine and goes to Benaroya Hall's Octave 9
